Overview

Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf was founded durring the early 14th century in summer of the year 1300, by Isia. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf was built using the conventions of Gnoll durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf is buildings are arranged arround a single narrow cobblestone mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the city a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The city posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf's budget focused millitary grade defenses has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Right off the bat Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this city has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. This wealth has brought the city nothing but neurosis, if you can believe your eyes. Everyone acts as if you’re out to take a piece of them. Every door is locked and every window barred. Efforts are made to make you feel welcome, but only in the public areas of the city, particularly the market.

History

A local has came up with a wonderful new idea 5 months ago; it may be a magical innovation, a new industrial process, a new agricultural product, a new use for what was thought to be ancient garbage, or some other very useful, profitable idea. Everyone around them is fighting for the chance to exploit this clever new plan.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf was attacked by a renegade group of the army. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf lost 278 people, 186 livestock, and 80 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 189, when members of Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf's militia enacted an operation to patrol a specific area to dissuade the enemy from their current activities. The operation was complicated by one of the key objectives in the operation requiring sticking to a very strict and short time table. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Slæ̈rn Vágahï-dnalf's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
